Wrong-way driving is the act of driving a vehicle against the flow of traffic, often because of impairment or distraction. It can happen anywhere, but on high-speed divided highways—where majority of incidents occur—the results are especially deadly. More than 500 people are killed in wrong-way driving crashes each year in the U.S.
